At first, I rejected this notion when someone brought up the possibility but now I think it’s plausible. It would explain better the scattered items and missing keys and plates. Maybe someone local saw it and took it for a joyride then hid it down the wooded walking path to the YMCA. IF it was actually Jelani’s car that was seen a day after he was reported missing and a day before the car was found, then it makes sense that it could have been parked elsewhere with the keys and his wallet left in it. It was important enough for this person to report it to Jelani’s family when they came that Saturday to search and then to the police. Also, the vehicle itself being a white Chrysler 300 with a black top, you don’t see that. They looked in the window but it was dark tinted and couldn’t see in. It stood out because whoever was driving took up most of the road and the person had to kind of drive around it. This person remembered passing a vehicle very similar to it. ![]() It was reported a few days after the car was found and pictures of it were posted on Facebook. ![]() Nice work on the timeline! You could add that it was reported to the Peru Police that a car matching the description of Jelani’s car was seen on Wednesday, August 25 around 6pm north of L-P High School, which would also be near the YMCA.
